WeeFoal 38
For Days 38-120 from breeding

Product Description
WeeFoal 38 ©\ Equine Urine Based Rapid Test
Pregnant Mare Gonadotropin (PMSG) or Equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG)
WeeFoal 38- is a single step Urine based rapid test for the presence of high eCG levels in the mare. This Glycoprotein
hormone is made by the endometrial cups - a group of cells from the embryo that temporarily colonize the lining of the
mare's uterus from days 35 up to days 140. WeeFoal 38 is set up to detect starting eCG levels at day 38 up to day 120
offering an early indication the eCG levels are climbing, indicative of a fetus present.
Reproduction planning and testing from the very start of breeding can greatly improve the success and outcome. Do not use
the WeeFoal 38 as a stand alone test. This is an aid to the breeding management program, and does not guarantee a
successful outcome in all mares. Please plan to use Professional Veterinary Services along side the WeeFoal products as
these tests do not claim to be 100% accurate.
Begin testing at day 38 after breeding with an optimal testing window between 45 and 85 days. The diagnostic test line will
show a stronger signal line during days 60-70 from breeding as the hormone eCG is at its highest peak. Before and after
that time frame, the diagnostic line will be lighter as the eCG hormone rises or drops. DO NOT COMPARE THE COLOUR
OF THE 2 TEST LINES. Each line has a function of its own. See eCG levels gestation chart.
False NEGATIVE ¨C if test is used before day 38 or after day 120.
False POSITIVE ¨C (elevated eCG levels in a mare that is not pregnant)
Where a fetus has absorbed; a light line will still be present until the endometrial
cups shrink, reducing the eCG hormone in that mare. This process and time
frame is different in each mare and can take up to 2 weeks or 120 days. Contact
your Veterinarian for further assistance.
Please read all instructions before performing the WeeFoal 38 test.
This test requires only 2-3 drops of urine sample for testing. If you need
help, consult your Veterinarian on how to collect a urine sample.
PROCEEDURE: WeeFoal 38 and the urine sample (do not dilute urine sample) should be at room temperature before use.
An open test package should be used immediately. Always use a clean dry container to collect urine sample. Remove test
cassette just before use and read results in a well lighted area, flat top table and light paper towel under it. Use one dropper
to draw up the urine sample. Holding the dropper about one inch above the circular sample well, carefully and slowly add 2
or 3 drops of urine sample to well. Do not flood the test unit.
Wait 10 - 20 minutes for results.
LOOK FOR ONE LINE OR TWO
DO NOT COMPARE THE COLOUR OF THE 2 TEST LINES
Each line has a function of its own.
NO LINES: The sample can be diluted with one drop of water to determine positive. Do not interpret results after 30 min.
Please discard the used test properly.
It is suggested you follow-up your test check with a Veterinarian visit, Ultrasound and/or a WeeFoal 120 for continued
monitoring.
The hormone test for eCG has approx. 5% false negative and a 10% false positive rate.
